I have a passion for make-up and nothing would make me happier than to pursue a career with it. I believe that theatrical make-up adds more excitement and the make-up artist could perform a variety of designs and themes on a person/
I have always seen myself as a creative person. At GCSE level, I studies art and design, which helped me develop my artistry skills and my ability to be creative and imaginative. I also studied BTEC Performing Arts and during the course, we completed a unit on theatrical make-up. This was y far my favorite unit of the course and this is when I discovered I wanted a career in theatrical make-up. We designed and created three different types of stage make-up. These were old age, fantasy and cuts and bruising. From doing this, I went onto helping the school production, The Wizard of Oz doing the make-up for the performers. I applied the make-up onto several people and this helped me learn to deal with the pressure that the job may require. I am a very sociable person and this is very useful in the industry as I can relax the performers as they go onto stage.
I have also helped in a family business called funny faces. This is a face painting business for children and I am currently going through training so that I can help apply onto the children's faces.
I would love to train as a theatrical make-up artist as I have loved the experiences I have had with face painting and make-up and I want to take my education further with it. I believe that this is a job I would fully enjoy and love doing as a career.
